What Is Float Therapy?

Float Therapy is also known as Floatation Therapy allows you to float effortlessly in a super-saturated bath or Epson Salts (or pure magnesium sulphate).

The float pod holds 36 degrees (air & water) temperature and once settled your skin is unable to distinguish between the two.

Your spine re-compresses and through the process of osmosis your skin absorbs magnesium which helps

  • relax your muscles,
  • improves sleep, and
  • relieves pain

as the absorption becomes a natural anti-inflammatory.

What are the Benefits of Float Therapy?

Whether it is relaxation or recovery you are looking for, our flotation pods have you covered.

Float therapy has become an increasingly popular therapy and the benefits of floating are very real, backed by countless studies and widely accepted by the scientific and medical communities.

Floating allows you to truly unplug and disconnect from the everyday world by blocking out all visual, audio and tactile distractions.

While floating, you can easily find a relaxing meditation and mindfulness state and enjoy the following benefits:

  • Deep Relaxation
  • Meditation
  • Improved Sleep
  • Pain Relief

What Happens During a Floatation Therapy Session?

We take your privacy very seriously and it is important to us!

You will complete and sign a waiver which identifies any pre-existing conditions that may prevent you from using Float Therapy. All float sessions will be completed in a private room equipped with showering facilities.

Float Therapy Preparation

Bring suitable swimwear for your session.

Before Float Therapy

On arrival, our trained staff will greet you and answer any questions you may have to ensure you are completely comfortable prior to the start of your session.

Arrive 10 minutes early, so staff have time to prepare you for your float and complete our form

You will be asked to shower and clean your hair. All clients will be supplied a robe and an area to change in.

During Float Therapy

Once prepared you can then enter the Float Pod. During your Float Session, you can shut the Pod lid, leave it ajar or have the lid completely open. You have access to music, attendant assistance button and light switch.

Once the treatment ends and you are re-robed you will then exit the Float Pod area and, re-dress in privacy and continue to reap the benefits of your Floatation Session!

After Float Therapy

After a Float Therapy session, your body will feel the ongoing benefits, these can include a sense of deep relaxation and refreshed life. More benefits will follow.

  • I am a little bit Claustrophobic; will I be ok in the float pod?

You have the option of floating with the lid open if you are feeling uneasy. Many people who initially express a fear of small places feels

much better once they know they can control the entire process.

Their fear subsides and the majority will go on and close the lid and turn off the light. You’re welcome to use the tank in a way that is

    most comfortable for you.

    • If you want to stop at any time you can
    • You can control the lighting and music
    • You can open and close the door at any time or leave it open
  • How are the Pods cleaned?

We monitor our solution very closely: pH and alkalinity levels are checked daily and the water is continually filtered through a filtration system

equipped with a UV steriliser between each float.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

You want to bring a hairbrush and toiletries for after your float. Other than that, we provide everything that you will need (towels, bathrobes, earplugs, body wash, shampoo/conditioner). We recommend that you float nude, so bathers optional.

  • Can I float with recently dyed hair OR have a spray tan on?

We suggest NOT floating within a week of getting your hair dyed OR having a spray tan. Reason being that recent coloured rinses and spray-on tans can run into the salt solution. This can ruin our tanks and ruin your hair.

  • What if I fall a sleep?

ENJOY IT! The water has a high content of Epsom salts, which provides natural buoyancy. It is physically impossible to sink or to turn over in your sleep. Lie back and the solution will totally support you. If you do fall asleep while floating it will be one of the most rested deep states of sleep, you will experience.

  • Can I float while pregnant?

Yes, it is reported that floating is good for you and your baby. It relieves the weight and pressure of the baby, leaving the mother to be completely relaxed. Consult your doctor before floating in your first trimester.

  • Can 2 people float in the same pod at the same time?

You can float at the same time in the clinic but not in the same pod.

  • When can’t I float?

    To float you must have:

    • Read, understand and agree to the clinic’s terms and conditions
    • Not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or illegal substances

You must NOT float if you have any of the following:

    • Have open bleeding wounds
    • Have a recently had spray-tan or hair dyed
    • Have a pacemaker or have a serious medical condition
    • Suffer from incontinence or nausea
    • Have epilepsy or psychotic episodes
    • Have a history of ear infections
    • Have an acute skin condition
    • Have been medically advised not to float
    • Have dreadlocks in your hair
  • Can I drink before I float?

We recommend not drinking caffeine (energy drinks or coffee) and NO alcohol before your session. We DO recommend drink a small glass of water before you float.

  • Can I eat before I float?

We recommend eating 1.5 hours before you float

  • Will I have my own room?

Yes, both or dream pods have their own private room equipped with your own personal shower, which you will use before and after your float.

  • Will I have any side-effects?

Not generally, some first-time floaters can emerge from the pod feeling slighting nauseous. This is a good sign as it indicates that built up stress is in the face leaving the body.

  • Can I float while menstruating?

Yes. Just follow the protocol as you would while swimming in a pool.

  • Will I get dehydrated?

No, your skin won’t even prune up! Your body will absorb a lot of magnesium though

  • Can I wear contact lenses in the pod?

We don’t recommend it. They can be a nuisance and therefore a distraction. If you do happen to get salt in your eyes (unlikely but it can happen) you will struggle to clear your eyes with contacts in

  • Do I have to stay in the float the whole time?

No, there aren’t any latches locking you in so you can get out at any time.

We recommend you take full advantage of the time though

  • Do I have to wear ear plugs during the float?

No, this is a personal preference. We suggest that the first couple of times that you float you wear them, and once you are used to it you can decide

    for yourself

  • Can’t swim?

That’s OK. Floating is just like taking a bath. You just step in, sit down and lay back. You can touch the bottom with your hands. No skill required, you just let the salty water do all the work. You will float like a cork in the ocean and

it doesn’t matter what shape and size you are.
